This one year Information Technology course introduces the learner to the digital architecture and theoretical concepts underpinning IT infrastructure and Cloud technology. You will study essential topics such as programming, computer architecture and web authoring, networking and Maths for Computing. All these subjects create a solid background knowledge for entry to many third level courses. Alternatively, this course prepares students for a rewarding career in areas such as software development.

How do I get in?

Students should have an interest in computing and a level of education to the Leaving Certificate or its equivalent. This should include Mathematics. The college also will consider applications from mature students who do not meet these requirements. This course may also suit applicants with suitable transferable skills who are seeking a conversion course to IT.

How long is the course?

This course runs one year full time from September to May.

What do I get out of it?

A QQI/FETAC Level 5 Certificate in Coding and Software Development

Where can I go from here?

The IT sector and smart economy is the fastest growing job sector at the moment. This course offers FETAC Level 5 certification which is a qualification in its own right, or can provide a pathway to Level 7 or 8 in the Institutes of Technology. It is ideal for those considering further study in computer science and software engineering.
