This Food Science course is aimed at students who want to develop their knowledge of food science and nutrition. It will focus on the relationship between food and health and the study of food from a scientific viewpoint.

How do I get in?

A Leaving Certificate or equivalent qualification would be an advantage as well as a keen interest in science and nutrition.

How long is the course?

4 days a week from September to May.

What do I get out of it?

A FETAC Level 5 Certificate in Food Science (5M5267).

Where can I go from here?

This course is suitable for learners who intend to continue their studies in a third level educational institute. Successful graduates, through the Higher Education Links Scheme, may work towards a diploma or degree in nutrition, science or related areas. It also serves as a useful stepping stone to a career in health care or catering.
